Jason Lee is an NYC-based American businessman and fintech entrepreneur. He is currently the Chief of Chime Enterprise.
An innovator with a mission, purpose and demonstrated results, Jason is a well-known public speaker and author. He has been featured in Forbes, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and Bloomberg. Jason has been recognized as one of the premier thought leaders in global finance by the International Financing Review and the Milken Global Institute. He has also been named one of the Top 20 Digital Innovators in Benefits, the Gold Winner for “Innovator of the Year” for the 2020 CEO World Awards, and a winner of CEO TODAY USA AWARD 2021.
After spending nearly two decades on Wall Street engineering financial products for investment banking clients, Jason became a technology entrepreneur in 2015 when he invented and introduced earned wage access (EWA) through his first entrepreneurial venture, DailyPay. DailyPay became the global leader in on-demand pay – an entirely new model of payroll that Jason invented and patented. DailyPay is used by nearly 5 million people and is ranked in the top 30 of all financial apps in iOS/Android. As a result of Jason’s invention of Earned Wage Access, there are now over 100 on-demand pay companies around the world that are empowering countless working people. Jason led DailyPay as Chairman and CEO until 2022, at which time the company was valued at $2 billion. Jason also has been instrumental in the adoption of Earned Wage Access globally. He has been an ambassador of the product to several countries around the world and currently serves on the board or as an advisor to the leading on-demand pay companies in each of Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
In addition to DailyPay, Jason has created two other popular fintech apps – Friday and Salt. Friday is a disruptive digital consumer banking app and debit card, and the first banking product to have three consumer account balances – Checking Balance, Savings Balance, and for the first time ever, Pay Balance. In 2021, Time Magazine named the Pay Balance as one of the top 100 inventions of the year.
Jason’s life calling is to create products and to build technology that radically improves the lives of the underserved. In 2022, Jason founded Salt Labs, a company that offers never before seen technology to enable frontline workers to own the long-term value of their work. His vision is a future where workers are able to capture the value of their work beyond their hourly wage, leading to greater financial freedom and long-term wealth creation. Salt Labs is modernizing the total rewards structure for workers so that companies can better align their long-term interests with those of their workers. Salt is currently available at several leading employers around the country and is growing at a rate faster than his first company.
Throughout Jason’s long career in the financial services and technology industry, Jason has also served in numerous leadership positions in nonprofit service. He has served as Chairman of the Board of SafeSpace, a nonprofit based in New York City dedicated to family rights advocacy. Jason and his wife Alicia founded The Alicia and Jason Lee Foundation in 2020. Through the foundation, Jason has become an ardent supporter of organizations focused on fair representation, equity, and re-entry. In 2021, The Alicia and Jason Lee Foundation began an initiative to sponsor free self-defense classes in New York City for elderly Asian-Americans following the rise of violence against Asians. These self-defense classes have grown beyond New York and have become a national offering, sponsored by major brands around the country.
Jason is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in New York City with his wife Alicia and their three children.
